Another Naples Institute on educational visit to NATO Command.

As reported in a report by Diana Sodano on the JFC Naples Command website, on May 26, another group of schoolchildren from the Neapolitan area, accompanied by their teachers, visited NATO’s strategic facility for Southern and Eastern Europe and Africa and were welcomed by Lt. Gen. Vasco Angellotti, Chief of Staff of the Command.

The article dwells on the enthusiastic reactions of Prof. Rosa Cammisa – representing Prof. Luisa De Simone, Headmaster of I.S.S. ‘Giancarlo Siani’ in Casalnuovo – whose very young students (14-15 years old) participated in yet another questionable ‘school trip’ to a command that plans and directs war operations in a vast and delicate southeastern area.

Once again MIR (International Movement for Reconciliation) Italy – promoter with Pax Christi of the National Campaign “Demilitarized Schools” – stigmatizes the growing militarist infiltration in Italian schools, which is manifested both by the presence of representatives of the armed forces in educational institutions of various types and degrees and by inappropriate visits to barracks, airports, factories, and even arms fairs.

“This latest case of absurd ‘school-war alternating’ ” said Ermete Ferraro, president of MIR, “will be reported to the Nomilitarization Observatory as well but, as far as we are concerned, we have already written to the Headmistress of this School Institute, as in other cases, asking to meet with her and the teachers to clarify the incompatibility of educational realities of the Republic that ‘repudiates war’ with activities that promote militarist and bellicose culture instead of peace and nonviolence” (see: https://jfcnaples.nato.int/newsroom/news/news-archive/2023/local-high-school-visited-jfc-naples -2).
